random
When I was doing my makeup this morning I randomly thought back to last year at this time and how bad my rosacea was during my pregnancy. Hard to believe how hormones can really change your skin chemistry! I’ve never had issues with adult acne or anything, but dry skin and redness still plague me a little bit. Nothing that’s not bearable, though. I’m sure if I put forth the extra effort to use moisturizing skin masques I wouldn’t have the dryness, either.

Keep Up The Good Work
A few of my friends have made new year’s resolutions to lose some weight and they’ve been doing great at keeping up with their diet and exercise program. One of them had looked at phentermine reviews, just to see but opted to try WW first and see if that would work for her. Once the warmer weather arrives (it can’t be long now), I know everyone — myself included — will feel much more motivated!

Oh!
In my last post I forget to mention the beefy body-builder guy who was reading a magazine with some ad on the back for muscle supplements. Made me wonder how much of his muscle was actually real and how much was synthetically encouraged? Last time I went to the dentist it was at 8 in the morning, so I wasn’t treated to this side show of characters. I think that the people who work there really see it all!

Overheard in the Waiting Room
I had to go to the dentist this morning to get a couple small cavities filled. My dental work is finally complete after a couple years of totally neglecting my teeth! At any rate, this is a rather large dental practice and people from all walks of life go there. The waiting room was particularly busy today. On one end of the room was a 60-something year old woman with her adult son and she was talking about going “bedroom TV shopping” later in the day because “she has to have one.” Apparently her old one died. On the other side of the room there was a guy who looked like he just walked in from a bar fight (entirely possible, since the office takes walk-ins). Meanwhile, on the TV someone was talking about ephedra weight loss products. It was all just a little odd. I was happy that I didn’t have to wait long to get called back to the dentist’s chair!

delicious…
I wonder what the best weight gain supplement is? I’d venture to guess it’s this delicious ice cream sundae. Cookie dough ice cream, Magic Shell topping, and whipped cream. Yeah, and I wonder why I’m not cracking 140 yet, right? LOL… Well, it’s been a long day and I really wanted a treat. Everything in moderation, as they say. Tomorrow I’ll be eating salads to make up for it ![]()

Less than 10
I have about seven pounds to go until I meet my weight loss goal of 135 lbs. Cracking 140 is a lot harder than I anticipated. I feel like I’m at a plateau and I really have to kick things up a notch. I’m thankful that I haven’t had to resort to weight loss products to get here, though. Mostly I’ve cut carbs and increased my protein intake. I try to eat whole foods most of the time, and I believe that makes a big difference too. I’m hopefully that I’ll be skinny for summer!

workin’ it
Oh, you thought I was working out? Ha! No, not really. I’m thinking of trying out a 30 Day yoga challenge that my friend is doing, but I’m not using any of our exercise equipment in the basement. Drew is putting it to good use, at least. I’m so super close to my weight loss goal, I really just need the motivation to work out. That’s why I’m considering yoga. It strengthens your core (which is the area I want to target), helps improve your balance, and is good for relaxation. All good things! I’m looking forward to the spring and getting outside again. Until then, I think I’ll have to look to the Internet and DVDs to help me get moving.

Fun Day Out
With Noah spending the weekend at my parents, we were able to have a leisurely day shopping after we picked Jake up from his friend’s house. I found a few fun items at Christmas Tree Shops, got some craft supplies at Hobby Lobby, a new book at B&N, and some microbrews at Half-Time. When we were at CTS, as usual some of the people there just had there carts piled high with stuff. Kind of makes you wonder if they’ll need to look into credit repair services after a while! At Half Time I picked up a bottle each of Harpoon’s Ginger Wheat and Souther Tier Brewing Co’s Choklat Imperial Stout. Yum, yum! I can’t wait to try both of these!

Sparkle!
I’ve been cleaning out my own jewelry box and setting some things aside for Laura. I have a lot of my childhood jewelry and I think she’ll enjoy wearing it when she’s a little older. I have a sweet necklace with several ducklings and my favorite “Love Dove” necklace that I wore all the time. I hope she will share my love for jewelry. Whether it’s diamonds or pearls, sapphires or amber, I love it all. Right now I don’t wear much aside from rings and earrings because Laura tugs on everything and I don’t want a chain to break. Before long I’ll have my bracelets and necklaces back, though. I’m holding off piercing her ears until she’s a little older (though I think that babies look so cute with little studs in their ears). Maybe for Kindergarden? We’ll see when we get there. I also have a box full of my grandmother’s old costume jewelry. Most of it is very dated, but will be perfect for playing dress-up!

Tax Season
Are you guys all set for your taxes? We’re just waiting for two more forms (that should arrive this week) and then we can file them. Maybe even this weekend! We want to be as early as possible to avoid delays in getting our refund. Last year I started to do a lot more writing so this year I’m keeping track of everything that could be used as a tax deduction. As a writer, there are so many things I can deduct: laptop computers, printers, seminars, books, notebook, paper, etc. Since I was pregnant and preoccupied last year I did not keep receipts like I should have. This year, however, I’m on top of my game and hoping for a successful year!
