It’s A Jeep Thing…

Posted under Blather No Comments

Was I surprised last weekend when I pulled into my parents’ driveway and saw a beautiful new Jeep Liberty! My dad’s old one, as it turned out, had been having some problems and it was time to invest in a new one. It looks really nice and I know he’s happy with it. I’m not sure if he has any truck accessories to put on it; I think he might have put on the roof rack the other day, and that’s about it. I’m really looking forward to taking it for a test drive (as a passenger) the next time I see him!

Winter Break

Posted under Travel & Vacations 1 Comment

I had a relaxing overnight at my parents’ house this weekend. It was just me and Laura, and without the boys there was significantly less yelling and scolding, which was very relaxing. Granted it’s not like a couple nights at the ‘rents is the same as some sweet Orlando vacation packages, but I will take what I can get: free meals, a bit of babysitting, and a couple hot, relaxing baths. I also got some knitting in — bonus! We usually go on a winter vacation, but not this year. I imagine that we’ll do something in the summer, instead.

jersey, baby

So, I’m not all that familiar with that show “Jersey Shore.” After all, we don’t have TV. I did catch part of an episode online — enough to make me glad that I don’t have TV. Apparently, this weekend the big news is that two of the show’s awful characters, “Snooki” and “The Situation” hooked up. Oh good. Just what we need. More idiots procreating and populating the earth. Can’t these people just find some normal South Jersey jobs and contribute to society? Oh wait. No, because stupid people still watch crappy reality shows like this constantly. Sigh…

Ch-ch-ch Chia!

Posted under Uncategorized No Comments

Last fall I read about chia seeds and ordered some. If you don’t know, they are nutritional supplements, basically. They’re seeds that are packed with fiber and protein. At first I didn’t believe the claims that they could increase your energy level, but I really noticed a difference when I was eating them. I think it’s time to buy some more. Of course, I have to order them online and I keep forgetting about it. The local natural foods store has them, but not the brand I like. Maybe if I start taking them again I’ll feel more alert even though I’m not getting enough sleep.

Manly Men

Posted under Uncategorized No Comments

Living out here in the country, there are plenty of guys who think they’re real cowboys. They drive pick-up trucks with NRA stickers on the back, some of them still wear mullets, and they think they’re great. I wouldn’t doubt if some of them would take a testosterone booster if they thought it would increase their masculinity! I tend to ignore them, except when I’m driving and they get right up on my bumper. I drive the speed limit. And I usually have at least one child in the car with me. I’m not about to risk an accident by speeding along the twisty roads just so these jerks can feel good. Sigh. One of these days I’ll see a cop pull one of them over, though, and that will make my day!

Pimple Popper, M.D.

Posted under Health No Comments

The other day I randomly  was thinking of that Seinfeld episode where Jerry calls the dermatologist “Pimple Popper, M.D.” and I just started laughing! I am sure that a dermatologist is the best person to see if you’re looking for the best acne treatment. Luckily I never had terrible acne. My rosacea got really bad during my last pregnancy, but it’s since cleared up pretty well. It still flares up occasionally during the winter, but certainly not to the extent it was last year. I remember being so embarrassed to go out because my face was so red!

Polly Put the Kettle Bell On

Posted under Health No Comments

One of my friends recently got into the whole kettle bell thing. I guess it’s a pretty popular work out because I’ve been seeing them everywhere. He’s also totally changed his diet. I wonder if he ever check out www.supplementcritic.com for info on diet supplements? Actually I’m not even sure if he’s into the whole protein powder thing. He tends to focus on whole foods (which we all should). I don’t think his goal is to be a body builder or anything, but he does enjoy competitions. It looks like fun. Maybe once Laura is sleeping better that’s something I’ll look into.

Sleep Struggles

Posted under Blather No Comments

Well, the never-ending sleep struggle continues. You’d think that by the third baby I’d expect it, but no… Ever-optimistic me keeps thinking that maybe this will be the night. Yeah, right! The circles under my eyes are getting darker by the minute. Maybe I should check out this iQ derma review. Supposedly it’s designed to help reduce dark circles. On a positive note, her daytime naps are dramatically improving. She naps twice a day for about an hour and a half each. She also goes down really well, awake, at night. We just need to work on getting her to stay asleep. (Heck, I’d be happy getting up two or three times — that would be nothing compared to the 8-10 times I currently get up!)

Chocolate Overload

Posted under Cooking No Comments

Yesterday I was having a rough day. Not bad, per se, but it just wasn’t going right. I ended up self-medicating with copious amounts of chocolate. Ugh… I felt so gross afterwards. I don’t usually do something like that. If I did, I’d need to be taking something like adipex. The worst part was how awful I felt mentally afterwards, knowing I’d just overdone it. Well, today is a new day and I can get myself back on track!

Bone Chilling!

Posted under Travel & Vacations No Comments

Good grief, enough with the cold! I know it’s winter, but this is crazy. My hands are so cracked from all the dryness, and my hair has so much static I look like the bride of Frankenstein! I’d love to go on vacation somewhere, maybe to an all inclusive cancun resort. Sun, swimming, beaches, daiquiris… Doesn’t that sound perfect right now? Unfortunately it’s all just a daydream for me. We’re planning another trip to Raleigh at some point this summer, but that’s probably as far south as we’ll be heading.
