Happy Birthday To My Honey :-)
Today is my sweet husband’s birthday! We started the celebration yesterday. Noah and I made some delicious devil’s food cupcakes with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. They were sooooo good. Like “take an appetite suppressant so you don’t eat them all” good! Then we let him open his presents a day early. He’s going to be very busy today with work and getting ready for a business trip tomorrow, so we decided yesterday would be more relaxing. Though I think we’ll probably take him out to dinner tonight after Jake gets home from school. It will, of course, be the birthday boy’s choice, so I think Buffalo wings might be in our future, LOL! But it will be entirely up to him — whatever will make my best friend happy!

Birthday Planning!
So, D’s birthday is on Monday and for once I have all of his presents bought ahead of time, LOL! (And in case he is reading, no I did not get you a PS3, dear, LOL!). But I do think he’ll be pleased with his gifts. Now I’m just trying to decide whether or not to make a special dinner and a cake or take him out. I’ll let him decide, I think. He’s got to go to Virginia the next day, but I’m glad he’ll be home for his birthday. Hopefully this is the last trip he’ll have to make down there for a while. I don’t love the idea of trying to balance life with two boys and a newborn while he is away. I know people do it, but…. hopefully I won’t have to.

Being Happy Where You Are
You know, when I was in college I didn’t see myself ever really getting married. Forget about having a child. And three kids? Well, I would have looked at you like you had three eyes. I was very career-oriented, probably like most women in their early 20s. Of course, life happens and things change and now I’ve been primarily a stay at home mom since the fall of 2001. I do some freelancing on the side and I did co-own a business for a while, but it’s still not exactly the life I’d imagined. And that’s fine because I’m perfectly happy where I am! But I do wonder what I’ll do in a year or two. This is going to be our last baby and while I’m not sure I want to go back to work full-time, I will probably want to do something to help pay down our mortgage faster. I think I will probably look into administrative careers because they can often be more flexible (I always see want ads for part-time receptionists). And they’re much more appealing to me than, say, working at a store! But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. For now I’m just enjoying where life takes me ![]()

Thinking About Vacations
We already went on our “big” vacation this year. I don’t think that after having a c-section and adjusting to life with a newborn again I will feel like doing much travel. Plus, it can be really expensive. Since gas is a little more affordable than last year, I wonder if more people will do something like rent motorhomes and instead of staying in pricey hotels, just set up camp in more realistic RV parks. I know that’s something my husband would love to do someday. I, on the other hand, need a little convincing ![]()

Spring is in the Air!
Well, kind of. It is spring, and Easter is this weekend, however as I type this it’s about 36 degrees outside
Hopefully it will warm up a bit today! Anyway, a friend of mine is getting married in a couple months and is tryng to think of a special gift to give her husband. When D. and I got married I gave him a pocket watch. I think watches are lovely gifts (”yours for all time”). I know she’d love to be able to give him a Patek Philippe watch, but it’s a bit out of her budget. I’m sure she can find something affordable, though. There are a lot of beautiful time pieces out there and it’s nice to have something that can become an heirloom, don’t you think?

An Addition for the Addition
I am anxiously awaiting a call from the bank with news about a home equity line of credit that we applied for. There’s no reason it should not be approved, so I don’t why I’m nervous, but I think I just want to move ahead with our home improvement project. After much talk and thought, we’ve decided to put a full shed dormer on the back of our Cape and remodel the upstairs. Currently there are two ridiculously huge bedrooms and a pretty useless sitting area. We plan to make three small bedrooms (one for each of the kids), make a big walk-in closet in our bedroom and possibly a small studio for my crafting. It would be kind of neat to have one of those steel buildings as a dedicated studio, but I don’t need that much room. Just a place to keep my sewing machine and fabric, really. It’s currently made its home on the dining room table, and as you can imagine that doesn’t work very well. With any luck we’ll be able to meet with the architect next week. Cross your fingers for us!
