What was that diet pill or supplement that Anna Nicole was shilling before she died? Was it quicktrim? Trimspa? Spaquick? I don’t know… they all sound the same. I wonder if there is really any difference between them all? I got a quick weight loss fix for you: eat healthy and exercise! Yes, I know (believe me I KNOW) it’s easier said than done. But it’s less risky than a pill. Then again, when you think of all the pesticides they use nowadays, you’re probably no better off. You just can’t win, can you?

On Celebrity Deaths

I’ve never been a huge Michael Jackson fan, so I am just not really into all the coverage of his life and death over the past couple of days. In my opinion, it’s a little too much. Though I do find it interesting how he was on all kinds of pain pills and Demerol injections. I don’t remember if he ever went to drug rehab, but maybe if he had he would not have died so early — I don’t know. It’s sad how much drug abuse there is in Hollywood, isn’t it? I mean, you’d think that these celebs that have so much fame and fortune could find better ways to control pain or make themselves happy. Us regular folks are able to do it, somehow (well, at least most of the time). Anyway… I feel bad that Farrah Fawcet’s death was completely overshadowed by MJ’s. It’s not fair, but I guess it just goes to show that there is no accounting for taste.

Cool Old Videos

Last week I was going through old VHS tapes and I found my bootleg copy of “Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story.” If you have never heard of it, it’s a short film about the tragic death of singer Karen Carpenter. But what makes it cool (and yes, slightly creepy), is that it’s done using Barbie dolls. After a while you barely notice that they are dolls — it’s unreal! Of course, Karen Carpenter died of an ipecac overdose (so tragic). I suppose back then there weren’t that many diet pills or diet supplements. Well, I guess diet supplements wouldn’t harm her anyway. They might have actually made her healthier, who knows?

Where’s the Juicy Celeb Gossip?

I wonder if the recession is even getting the best of the celebrities? Now, mind you — I am not, I repeat NOT one of these people who follows celebs’ every move. When I am totally bored I’ll browse celeb websites, mostly to read the whacked-out comments left by obsessive fans, but I guess it also keeps me in the loop so I don’t look like a complete idiot when people mention “the beautiful people.” I feel like not too long ago we were constantly hearing about this actress or that musician being busted for drugs, or needing to dry out, but it seems like you have to scroll through pages and pages on the fan sites before you even read anything about celebrities being hauled off to drug rehabs. I guess Amy Winehouse is your best bet for this kind of thing. And she’s just pathetic!

Ever wonder what celebrities like to cook? (Because they do cook right? Tell me at least a few are capable human beings, LOL!) Well, I saw this article on CNN about celebrities’ favorite recipes. Here’s who cooks what:

• Chris Noth makes fish & chips
• Emily Deschanel makes vegan cookies
• Melina Kanakaredes makes stuffed grape leaves and avgolemono (YUM!)
• LeAnn Rimes makes Cabo chicken and sangria
